The Deer Cove Golf Course originally was an
18-hole, Par 65 course that measured 4,439 yards from the men’s tees and had a
rating of 61.1, with a slope of 93. When
I played the course there was only 9 holes.
They had shut down the back 9 holes.
The designer is not known but the course was opened in 1943.
When I
played the golf course in the fall of 2011 it was only a 9 hole executive
course, but they had plans to re-open the back 9 soon. The course was a short little course built
for families, located next to the RV Park and the lake. This is a great place to bring a beginner
golfer, no crowds, no carts, just a fun little course.
This is a
military golf course, just for GI’s and their families.
