The Suneagle Golf Course is an 18-hole, Par-72
course that measures 6,385 yards from the back tees and has a rating of 70.7
with a slope of 121. The course was
originally designed and built by A.W. Tillinghast and opened in 1926. The Suneagle country club opened as a private
country club on May 29, 1926. In 1913,
the members purchased the club and named it the Monmoth County country club. The Army purchased the club in 1942 for the
incredible low price of $42,000, which included the clubhouse, golf course,
swimming pool, tennis courts and the polo field that is now known as the
Charles Wood housing area.
Although
Suneagle golf course has changed while being under the ownership of the US Army
it is still known as a challenging and rewarding golf course and one of the
premier Army golf courses in the world.
The golf
course is open to the public.
